Keep Sourdough Starter in a slightly warm place. The optimal temperature for it is 85 degrees F. Mix starter at least 3 times a day. Note: If you don't have pineapple juice you can use spring water. Day 1 Mix: 2 tbsp flour 2 tbsp pineapple juice Day 2: Add: 2 tbsp flour 2 tbsp pineapple juice Day 3: Add: 2 tbsp flour 2 tbsp pineapple juice Day 4: Add: 1/4 cup flour 1/4 cup spring water By this point you should be seeing bubbles on top and it should smell sour. Day 5: You can now use this sourdough starter for the recipe. The recipe calls for 1/2 cup of starter. When you remove the 1/2 cup make sure and add: 1/4 cup flour and 1/4 cup water to your starter to keep it going. While actively using the starter mix it at least 3 times a day. When you are not using the starter daily you need to put it in the fridge. When you want to use it again you need to add 1/4 cup water and 1/4 cup flour to it and then mix it 3 times for a day before you use it to "re-start" it. Note: You can always increase the size of your starter if you plan to make more than one loaf a day. Just make sure to put in equal portions of flour and spring water.
